This year’s Bierfest promises to be tops
Festival-goers will be smiling from beer to beer
SOUTH Africa’s favourite national beer festival is teaming up with one of the country’s leading independent craft breweries. The TOPS at SPAR Bierfest in association with Weekend Argus is proud to announce a new partnership with the Cape Brewing Company (CBC), putting the “beer” firmly back at the centre of Bierfest.
Over the last eight years, Bierfest has evolved into South Africa’s premier “sit- down” beer festival, offering terrific table-side games, a smorgasbord of activity booths and live bands in a festive Bavarian atmosphere.
A completely revamped Brauhaus interior will transport festival-goers into the town square of Biervaria, where they can enjoy no less than 10 delicious beers on tap and a range of ciders from Rekorderlig. From a traditional Oktoberfest brew to a Peach Weiss, right up to their Brewmaster’s Reserve Dunkel, CBC has opened its taproom.
Klaus Uberhuber, mayor of Biervaria and long- running host of Bierfest, said: “I’ve been working my whole life to find, and perfect, the ideal place to enjoy old friends and try new beers. For me, that connection is the most beautiful thing and I will stop at nothing to bring it out and help it shine. Now I’ve finally found people who care the same way about their beer.”
CBC is a leading independent craft beer producer, situated on the scenic Spice Route Destination, on the Suid-Agter Paarl Road.
The modern craft brewery became a reality when Swedish brewer Hendrik Dunge joined the team of two beer enthusiasts, Charles Back and Andy Kung.
CBC’s team consists of a fine blend of local and imported individuals.
For those Biervarians who prefer a different kind of brew, there are selected wines from the TOPS at SPAR Olive Brook Private Label range.
The TOPS at SPAR Bierfest is now on its eighth national tour, bringing its festive Brauhaus and barrels of beautiful beer to Cape Town from September 28 to 29 at Sun Exhibits, GrandWest.
