Ashton farm with butchery, equipment and livestock on offer
CLAREMART Auction Group has been instructed to auction a farm in the Robertson district.
The auction will include the fixed property and movables, which will be sold separately.
“Portion 5 of Farm 161, Sarahs River, Ashton, is just off the
R60 – a part of the Western Cape renowned for its world-class wine and idyllic scenery,” says MC du Toit, ClareMart’s executive legal auctions director.
“The farm is fully operational and spans 132ha. The property also includes the farmhouse, butchery, farming equipment and the remaining livestock.”
Du Toit believes the auction will offer “a rare opportunity” to own a beautiful farmhouse with guest accommodation, set against a picturesque mountain range, with a river flowing through the property.
It will also be a chance to acquire a thriving business in the form of an operational farm with a fully equipped butchery.
The main house has six bedrooms, and large living spaces including a fireplace, he says.
“Massive windows let in loads of natural light and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Additional accommodation is available in two separate guest cottages, which have one and two bedrooms respectively.
“Outside, the natural beauty of Sarahs River, which runs through the farm, can be enjoyed, and there is also a family-sized pool.
“In addition, four dams, 30 pig pens, 10ha water rights, grazing and arable land, and a borehole compound this appealing business opportunity.
“The property includes the butchery and smokehouse, complete with reception/sales office, production and packaging area, freezer room, and cold room and stores.”
The movable property to be auctioned will include 10 pigs, a tractor, a digger loader, a Nissan diesel UD40 (drop-side with livestock gate), a 2013 Nissan NV200 panel van, trailers, a generator, freezers, display fridges, meat and biltong slicers, a sausage press, a mincer and a bandsaw.
The auction will be held on site at 11am on September 4.
The fixed property will be auctioned first, followed by the movables auction. The auctioneer may combine or sell lots individually.
To register to bid for either the fixed property or movables, potential buyers will have to provide an identity document, proof of residence (a utility bill not older than three months) and a R5 000 refundable deposit payable by EFT only. No cash or card payments will be accepted.
The sale is subject to a 10% buyer’s commission and invoices must be settled directly after the auction.
