Perfect working lunch on a platter

- NATHAN ADAMS

THE concept of a working lunch is always evolving but the team at The Table Bay are working hard to take it back to basics. They have cut away the frills and the fuss in the lunch menu and the time it takes for diners to pop in and out of the eatery.

It’s such a simple concept that it actually is astounding. They promise a one-hour lunch that is tasty, fresh, nutritious and value for money. From Tuesday to Friday you can book your seat at the restaurant and have a working lunch that actually works.

The harvest table is an assortment of salads, breads, hot dishes and even a soup of the day that is fresh and uncomplicated. The fact that there was no menu for us to look over for 10 minutes, or any tough decisions to make, was a huge time saver.

Here we had the option of beef or fish as mains and that was alongside the bread and salads we could select as well.

The desserts were also varied in that you could choose from the cheese platter, to panna cotta, malva pudding or carrot cake. This was a nice added bonus because with buffet style eating, desserts are usually an afterthought. The bar at the hotel is open, so if you do want a glass of wine, a beer or a cocktail, they are able to bring you the perfect serve.

This lunch has all the hallmarks of a winner for busy professionals, looking to do more than grab a quick bite to eat. You also have the added incentive of the free parking and wi-fi at the hotel, which in the hustle and bustle of any weekday in Cape Town are two elements that can’t be overlooked.

The Table Bay Lunch at Camisse Brasserie is from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, Tuesdays to Fridays.
