Summer sounds

Immerse yourself with Tresor, Majozi

- WEEKEND ARGUS REPORTER

GET ready for a merging of Afropolitan melodies and the soothing sounds of indie folk. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden will be hosting Tresor and Majozi at the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts series on November 18.

The two artists have collaborated on The Woods, and will be performing it live for the first time.

Tresor said the song was inspired by youthful love and wanting to give assurance in the middle of confusion.

“For me, it was something different and from the time I finished writing the song, I knew Majozi’s voice would be perfect for it and I am glad he invited me to collaborate with him on it. He’s a great artist to work with.”

This year, TRESOR was awarded the South African Music Awards (Samas) for Best Pop Album after the release of The Beautiful Madness in 2017.

Majozi’s music career has been going from strength to strength since his rise to fame in 2015. He released his debut indie pop album, Fire, which was nominated at the Samas for Best Adult Contemporary Album in 2017.

Born in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, singer-songwriter Tresor took a leap of faith and moved to Durban in 2007 to pursue a career in music. The move paid off and the name Tresor is recognised in the music industry, locally and internationally.

Majozi will launch his self-titled sophomore album today. Putting fear aside and pushing himself creatively, Majozi’s new record is a pop- soul offering into which he poured his heart and emotions. “I chose to self-title it because I don’t think people know exactly who I am; not only as an artist but mostly as a person. This album will hopefully give them a better idea.”

Tickets cost R150 (ages 6 - 21), R190 for adults. Children under 6 enter free. Book tickets online on www.webtickets.co.za
