WHAT’S ON CINTRON PINK POLO

DRESSING FOR THE OCCASION

- Gerry Cupido

THE Cintron Pink Polo is taking place on Saturday, November 3, at Val de

Vie Estate in Franschoek. This highly anticipated event brings together South Africa’s elite to raise funds and create awareness of symptoms and early detection of breast cancer, as well as assisting women and men affected by the disease.

Guests attending this prestigious gathering are encouraged to wear attire appropriate for a polo event. A misconception and much confusion remains between the dress code for attending polo and horse-racing events.

Note that there is, in fact, a vast difference. The polo is not the place for skin tight, flesh-revealing, barely there dresses. And since it’s not a red carpet event, ball gowns are most definitely not appropriate.

Flowing floral maxi dresses, playful jumpsuits or a crisp white shirt worn with a full flare skirt, are more appropriate polo event wear. Big-brimmed straw and panama hats are perfect but shiny, feather fascinators are a definite no!

Leave your stilettos at home and step out in comfort wearing espadrilles, wedges or embellished sandals.

Look no further than the Duchess Meghan of Sussex and Duchess Catherine of Cambridge, for polo-wear inspiration. These royals know how keep their looks comfortably sophisticated.
