Limpopo lodge and farms on offer

Upmarket safari venue and spa is fenced and has three boreholes and 6km of river frontage

-

THREE game farms – among them the well- known and water- rich Witwater Safari Lodge and Spa – located near Mookgopong, in Limpopo, will be sold by public auction at 11am on November 7.

The farms will first be offered individually and then together, says Johan van Eyk of Van’s Auctioneers.

The stylish and upmarket lodge is situated on a farm of about 1 480ha.

The lodge has eight en-suite luxury rooms; three luxury suites, also with en-suite bathrooms; four safari tents; and three units, which can each accommodate four people, on the banks of the Phalala River.

The property also includes a selfcatering house comprising four en-suite bedrooms, a kitchen, a living area, an outside braai area and a splash pool.

In addition to the accommodation, the lodge itself has a reception and lounge area, a boardroom, conference facilities, a restaurant, a bar, a swimming pool and a house that serves as workers’ quarters.

The luxurious spa is also situated near the lodge. “It features a heated indoor pool, a sauna, treatment rooms and a pool with a view over the farm and the river.”

The improvements on the property have a total area of just over 5 000m². The property has about 6km of river frontage, and three equipped boreholes. A three-metre game fence surrounds the property.

Van Eyk says all the movable assets used in the operation of the lodge will be offered as a separate lot after the sale of the three game farms, and then the game viewers and game also as separate lots.

Lot 2 is the game farm Jeannetta-Haar-Loop, which is nearly 1 500ha in size.

There is an old house on the farm, and also a Vodacom/MTN tower that produces a monthly income of R12 000.

“This farm is also very rich in water and has about 5.6km of frontage on the Phalala River, which meanders along its boundary.”

Next up for auction will be Vogelvlei Farm (Lot 3), which has an area of about 436ha.

“Vogelvlei Farm is also rich in water and has natural springs that feed the Jonkmans Spruit and dams,” says Van Eyk.

Both the Jeannetta-Haar-Loop and Vogelvlei farms have game fencing between 2.4m and 3m high, he says.

The auctions will be held at the Witwater Safari Lodge and Spa, about 60km from Mookgopong.
