Join the Easter eggstravaganza - adopt a needy pet
FOR many people, Easter is about giving back, helping others, spending time with the family and, of course, buying chocolates for their children.
If you still have not decided what to get your kids, why not surprise them by adopting an adorable pet dog or cat?
Animal Welfare Society (AWS) South Africa presents an adoption “eggstravaganza” over the Easter weekend.
With Easter symbolising the celebration of new life this will be a great opportunity t o give these animals a second chance and to celebrate new beginnings.
Head of communications and resource development for the AWS, Allan Perrins, said nothing would bring the AWS greater joy than finding loving, caring homes for the many deserving pets in its care.
“We firmly believe in second chances and saving lives. By adopting a pet from us you will be giving the greatest gift of all – a wonderful life to a new best friend. This would be a real win for the pet, new owner and animal shelter,” said Perrins, who has been touched by these animals.
“Seeing an emaciated, petrified animal transform and blossom into a loving and trusting companion is all the reward we need to carry on despite the seemingly insurmountable odds. We have shared pet owners’ happiest and saddest moments. We have laughed and cried. Our chosen profession calls for off-the-chart emotional maturity. Bidding them farewell is always a bittersweet moment.”
Based in Papkuilsvlei Road, Philippi (off Old Lansdowne Road), AWS SA will be open to the public from today to Monday from 9am to 12pm.
