The 9th Avenue Bistro was owned and run by Graham and Gina Neilson who travelled and worked in top establishments. While travelling they came to the conclusion that there was no place like home and decided that Durban would be the place for them to make their mark.

The 9th Avenue Waterside is a continuation of this legacy with their stunning new restaurant situated in the heart of Durban’s harbour with breathtaking bay views.

Gina and the front-house team deliver smooth, knowledgeable and professional service. Showcasing fresh locally-sourced seasonal cuisine, all dishes are exquisitely presented, from modern interpretations of bistro classics to cutting-edge gastronomy.

The wine list changes regularly and concentrates on smaller boutique wineries offering some of SA’s finest, as well as many affordable options.

The wine list also offers a selection of international wines and locally sourced micro-brewed beers. Every few months, 9th Avenue hosts set menu dinners paired with leading wine estates from SA and abroad.

They offer a set menu for functions. Creamy and sharp gorgonzola with crisp sweet slices of pear and candied pecan nut salad on a bed of field greens with a lemon vinaigrette, as well as the slowroasted lamb shoulder for mains paired with pea purée, potato mash, vegetables and a minted honey mayo are some of their menu’s highlights.
