Ntsako Theona Hlongwane said it was a good idea to have an online fashion show.

“It will help the designer get a view of what they created without the hype of the moment,” said the second-year clothing and textile diploma student.

Student development officer Melani-Ann Hara said they hoped to provide students with a unique opportunity and memorable experience.

“This will provide a platform for students interested in design to showcase their skill and passion by entering and designing garments made out of recyclable and up-cycled materials. CPUT, GCI chairperson, Sisipho Mpemba said the goal of the online fashion show was to raise awareness of sustainable development and Covid-19 to as many students as possible.

“We created a platform where students can be able to express themselves and expand their skills through their passion for the environment by creating a garment made out of recycled and/or up-cycled materials,” he said.
