THE Gauteng High Court, Pretoria, has slapped Minister of Higher Education and Training Dr Blade Nzimande with a contempt of court order after he was found to have breached a recent ruling interdicting him from placing Unisa under administration.

The court ordered the minister to withdraw the notice on Wednesday after the university filed an urgent application.

Nzimande had named Professor

Ihron Rensburg, former vice-chancellor and principal of the University of Johannesburg, as administrator responsible for all university management functions for 24 months.

The minister’s decision followed the recommendations of an independent assessor following a damning report which flagged serious incidents of maladministration and other challenges affecting the institution. |

WITH many state-owned entities in financially strained and mismanaged positions, like the SA Post Office, one government department has proven to be functional as promised.

With their online vehicle licence renewal system, the Road Traffic Management Corporation’s Natis

(National Traffic Information System) website has made the process of licence disc renewals more efficient, cutting out queues, travel and unnecessary interactions.

Natis offers online services, including disc renewal. These include card renewals, booking a learner’s test, booking a driving licence test, making a PrDP application, booking a slot for the driver’s test, and reporting a crash (damages only).

All vehicle licence renewals made through the online platform will be delivered within three to five working days, according to Natis. |
