Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition)

A big thank you to our contributors, and our readers

- Dieketseng

AS THE YEAR 2023 draws to an end, I would like to wish you a safe festive season and a happy New Year. This is our last issue for the year. What a busy year it has been! I am sure all of us are looking forward to a restful time.

This year, we covered stories that had a direct impact on you, the reader.

One of the stories we covered was the two-pot retirement system. The new proposed two-pot system intends to allow members of retirement schemes the flexibility to access a third of their savings before retirement while keeping the other two-thirds for retirement.

The latest update is that the proposed implementation date might be moved again. Hopefully, this would be the last time. As this is an ongoing matter, we will update you on it in the new year.

We’ve also had a lot of coverage around wills and estates, a topic I find interesting and important as it delves into the implications of not drafting a will while you are alive, especially if you have assets.

We’ve also come to learn that it is imperative to seek advice from a qualified financial adviser when it comes to such matters.

We will be back again next year to bring you more of these to keep you informed and educated.

I would like to take this time to thank our columnists. Their insightful articles have been a delight to read, and I have certainly learnt a lot from them.

I would also like to express gratitude to our contributors. I hope in the new year they will continue providing us with great content.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank you, the reader. Without your readership, the Personal Finance page would not exist.

Have a safe and merry festive season until we meet again next year.
