Bacon and mushroom braai pie

BACON AND MUSHROOM BRAAI PIE

15ml(1T)oil

1 onion, sliced

2 garlic cloves,

crushed

250 g bacon, diced 1 green pepper, sliced 250 g mushrooms,

sliced 2 rolls (400 g each)

puff pastry

100 g Cheddar cheese,

grated

10 ml (2 t) dried oregano 100 g mozzarella cheese,

grated

1 egg, whisked

Grease a clean folding grid with nonstick spray.

1 Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion and garlic until fragrant. Add the bacon and stir-fry until done.

2 Add the green pepper and mushrooms and stir-fry for about 5 minutes or until the liquid released by the mushrooms has evaporated.

3 Unroll one sheet of pastry and place carefully on the cold braai grid.

4 Sprinkle the Cheddar cheese and oregano over. Spread the bacon and mushroom mixture evenly over the base then sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top. 5 Unroll the second sheet of pastry and put on top of the filling. Use a fork to seal the edges.

6 Brush the pastry with the whisked egg on both sides, close the braai grid and braai over moderate coals for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown and done on both sides.
