What’s going on down the Laan?

-

No, it’s not only you, Trudels (YOU Say, 2 June) – I’m also disappointed with 7de Laan. I’ve watched it for years. It used to be a lovely family show. Now it has an age limit and is full of violence and fights between the actors. MARGIE, SMS Eish. 7de Laan, the only soapie I watch, has lost the plot. Sadly I have to switch off. I have to agree that the days when we all sat and enjoyed this soapie are over. It’s just jail time, murder, crime and fighting.

I’m just glad that I don’t have small children in the home any more. I shiver when I think that my one granddaughter is watching this programme in boarding school. MBL, BOKSBURG

7de Laan has gone from a family show to a one you’re quite ashamed to mention you sometimes watch. We couldn’t wait for 6.30 every night, but now we can’t help but wonder what message it’s sending to the younger generation. ROSALIE POTGIETER, SMS Yes, 7de Laan has lost the plot. No longer are there wholesome family values to admire and share in SABC TV’s prime viewing time. Even bad Gita seems tame in comparison with the new storylines. We no longer watch. DISGUSTED, PINETOWN 7de Laan has deteriorated into a sleazy soapie. And, to cap it all, the scriptwriters have lost the plot.

The sleaze of Altus’ illegitimate child, Felicity and Willem’s distasteful affair . . . the lies and double standards just roll on and on, taking this once very enjoyable show down the drain.

I can no longer bear to watch. Goodbye, 7de Laan. DISGUSTED VIEWER, BLOEMFONTEIN
