THE WONDERS OF SPRING

-

HERE’S a taster of what I see and hear in my garden from morning to night. Against a small cloud with a rainbow a crested barbet and a loerie are arguing abut who should get the pawpaw skin. The hoopoe is digging in the lawn for titbits while hundreds of huge black birds catch a thermal.

Later the robin sings his goodnight song and there’s a falling star that looks like diamonds and emeralds, a small meteor shooting from east to west under a half moon. Absolutely amazing! ANNA,KENSINGTON

IF YOU see the picture of the little girl with the mass of curls at www.you.co.za, you can’t think anything other than “what a gorgeous child”. Yet when you read the words her mom writes to go with the image, it’s enough to break your heart.

“It pained me when she was about three years old and asked when her hair would grow like Elsa’s from Frozen,” YOU’s Natalie Cavernelis writes. “She spent a few weeks wandering around pretending to flick her ‘long hair’ over her shoulders.”

There have been many opinions on the issue of hair in the past week. Read our excellent article on page 12 and share your thoughts with us (email letters@you.co.za). S Although most of my memories of my wedding day are happy I haven’t forgotten how stressful it was to plan! I wish I’d had a magazine that had local service providers and practical tips as our latest brand extension, YOU Weddings, has.

If you or someone in your life is planning their big day, get your hands on a copy now. To order a print copy, email johan.terblanche@media24.com, or buy a digital copy at www.mysubs.co.za (search for YOU Weddings).
