I join the millions of enlightened people around the world who rejoice in the election of Donald Trump, the man who took on the Republican and Democratic political establishment as well as the liberal media and won (YOU, 24 November). Thank goodness there will be no more Obama who squandered his opportunities and gave nice speeches but no action. OWEN, CAPE TOWN I wonder why people are expressing such negativity and fear about Trump? He had a campaign to run but already he’s toned it down.

South Africans should be more concerned about what’s happening in our country. The United States will always be okay no matter who their president is. Not like here. I’m not wild about Hillary Clinton but the prospect of that buffoon Trump as leader of the free world for the next four years fills me with foreboding and gloom.
