KEEPING IT SIMPLE
With reference to your article about the reintroduction of the Nokia 3310 cellphone (YOU, 16 March), all I can do is thank heaven that sanity has returned to the cellphone industry.
Today’s state-of-the-art cellphones can launch the space shuttle, start up and control the Large Hadron Collider and navigate the International Space Station from down here on Earth, but make it almost impossible to do the real job of a phone – namely the simple task of making or receiving a phone call. I don’t want a hand-held super computer. I just want a phone.
Thank goodness for the fact that I might soon be able to buy a cellphone with which I can make a phone call without interference from a host of sub-programs. ALAN McDOUGALL, SUNNINGHILL
