YOU (South Africa)

COME RAIN OR SHINE

-

and we’re known as SNL (Saturday Night Live).

There are so many women in South Africa who’d love to be out and about but don’t necessarily want to go on “dates”. At 15 members strong our group is full but I’m sharing my idea with YOU readers in case anyone else wants to start their own group.

I advertised for free in a community magazine and on Facebook, suggesting that anyone who enjoys good movies and good company meet me at a mall at a certain time and date. I said I’d be standing there with an Irish flag. The rest is history. ANNE LAPEDUS BREST, SANDTON It rained early on Thursday morning, probably about the time my YOU was being delivered. I retrieved a wet, sorrylooking YOU from my doorstep.

It’s now Saturday afternoon and I’m pleased to report my YOU is dry and readable. Yay! I was beginning to have withdrawal symptoms. My YOU magazine is one of my small indulgences as a pensioner.

Thank you to everybody who makes the magazine informative and educational and keeps us up to date with the celebs and their antics. And thank you for the crosswords and sudoku. JG, EMAIL With all the warnings about identity theft and the need to protect your personal information, why do recruitment agencies expect you to email a copy of your ID with an application, or show your ID number on your CV? JOB SEEKER, CAPE TOWN Go to you.co.za and click on “subscribe”. Take up our special offer by subscribing to YOU’s digital version for just R64 a month – that’s a cool R14,70 an issue. Offer valid for annual subscriptions only.
