MY HEALTHY KIDS
In response to Dr Connie Meyer’s views on antibiotic abuse (YOU, 8 June): while I agree with the view that children are fed antibiotics for almost every sniffle, I disagree with the statement about children being more at risk from not being breastfed or being born via Caesarean section.
I have two beautiful, healthy daughters. Both were born via Caesarean section and I chose not to breastfeed for personal reasons.
My girls, who are now 19 and 16, have been very healthy throughout their younger years. In fact they’ve only ever had antibiotics about five times each.
Prevention is better than cure, so stick to healthy food and living and I guarantee you your kid won’t need to live on medication. It’s certainly worked for my girls. ZENA, NELSPRUIT
