Ex-SABC boss Hlaudi Motsoeneng has a special way with words – which ultimately proved to be his undoing

PRACTICALLY every time Hlaudi Motsoeneng opens his mouth he sparks outrage. Attempts by the public protector, opposition political parties and even a parliamentary ad hoc committee failed to unseat the 49-year-old former SABC chief operating office (COO) – even after the high court deemed his appointment illegal.

But in the end it was his own mouth that led to his downfall and his dismissal from the beleaguered national broadcaster. We look at some of his outrageous utterances during his bizarre seven years at the helm of the SABC.
