. . . and his pregnant wife Coleen is livid. The footballer’s marriage is in deep trouble after he was caught with another woman
ANOTHER baby, another scandal – Wayne Rooney is certainly a creature of habit. His wife, Coleen, is due to give birth to their fourth child in February but instead of stocking up on nappies and readying the nursery, the soccer star (31) has been spending time boozing and canoodling with another woman.
You’d think he would have learnt his lesson after the first time – he was embroiled in drama seven years ago when Coleen was expecting their first baby (see box, top right).
This time the former Manchester United star was reportedly “kissing and cuddling” a 29-year-old office worker and mother of one, Laura Simpson, while on a night out not far from his home in Prestbury, Cheshire.
To add insult to injury, Wayne was then arrested for driving drunk when he was caught behind the wheel of Laura’s VW Beetle.
In the past Coleen (31) has always forgiven her husband’s indiscretions – but it seems this time she might finally have had enough.
She’s said to have fled the couple’s £6 million (R100 million) mansion, telling him, “The world is laughing at me because of you.
“How could you do this to me while I’m pregnant?” she screamed at him while breaking down, UK newspaper the Sunday Mirror reports. “How could you be so stupid?”
COLEEN, who’s been with the former England captain since they were 16, now feels her nine-year marriage to him is over, a friend says. She and their sons – Kai (7), Klay (4) and one-year-old Kit – are believed to be staying with Coleen’s parents, Colette and Tony McLoughlin, in Liverpool.
Coleen and the boys had been holidaying in Spain when she got the call to say her husband had been arrested driving another woman’s car.
“Things could change in the coming days but as things stand she’s had enough and it’s finished,” a source says. “This was the final straw and she feels humiliated. She’s planning to walk away.”
While Coleen has found it within her-
self to forgive her husband in the past, even Wayne is said to have realised he may have hammered the final nail in the coffin of his marriage.
“Wayne doesn’t know what to do with himself,” a friend says. “He’s had to apologise to Coleen for lots of things in the past – but this is looking like the toughest one yet. She’s absolutely raging.”
Coleen was reportedly so angry she even phoned Laura, a regional sales manager for a property developer, after contacting her through Instagram.
Party-loving Laura was happy to talk to the tabloids about her 10-hour, pro-secco-and vodka-fuelled bender with Wayne – and the awkward conversation that followed with his wife.
“He kept admiring my boobs in my clingy top and asking what size they were,” Laura told British newspaper The Sun. “He asked if they were real and said, ‘I’d like to get my hands on them.’ I laughed. He was being flirty and I didn’t tell him my boobs are fake.
“Yes, he’s a bit of a lad and I was drunk but I was doing nothing wrong. I’m not a marriage-wrecker. It was all playful fun and I’d had loads to drink. We had a kiss, a hug and some banter – harmless fun.”
But “harmless fun” took a turn when they left the cocktail bar and took a taxi to Laura’s black Beetle. Wayne had supposedly been planning to drive back to his new friend’s home – even though he was three times over the legal limit.
They were pulled over by police just before 2 am, and Wayne was arrested for driving under the influence. After spending several hours in police cells, he was released on bail and picked up by his agent, Paul Stretford.
Wayne is due to appear in court on 18 September – but the long arm of the law isn’t all he’ll have to face.
The striker, who returned to Everton on a two-year contract last month, will likely be hauled over the coals by club manager Ronald Koeman and fined two weeks’ wages – £320 000 (R5,3 million).
It seems that if Wayne hadn’t been pulled over by the police, he may have gone all the way with Laura – at least, that’s what she reckons. She “would’ve jumped into bed with him” if he’d made it all the way to her house, she claims.
Still, Laura – who now says she’s receiving threatening texts from Wayne’s friends – told Coleen in their tense five-minute phone call that nothing had happened with her husband. “I apologised to her and she said, ‘You have nothing to say sorry for’,” the brunette claims.
Wayne is also said to be insisting to his wife that it was all innocent fun but Coleen isn’t buying it.
“It’s playing on her mind what could’ve been if he hadn’t been arrested,” a friend says. “He’s painting himself as this chivalrous figure who only got behind the wheel because he thought he was sober and wanted to make sure Laura got home safe.
“But if Wayne wanted to help the girl out, why didn’t he just pay for her cab? After all, he’s worth about £50 million (R839 million).
“Coleen feels Wayne is lying to her. You can imagine how angry she is. He says there was no funny business but because of his track record she’s struggling to take him at his word.”
IN THE wake of her turmoil, Coleen took to Instagram to share a beautiful photograph of herself with her three sons, which she simply captioned, “Dinner with my boys.”
The snap elicited a flood of comments – most of them offering advice to the traumatised mom.
“No one’s laughing at you,” one fan wrote. “I’d punch both of them, you don’t deserve that. Take him for everything Coleen.”
Another expressed similar sentiments: “Don’t be a fool, this is the third time. Take your boys and run, never look back.”
Even Helen Wood, one of the women who claimed Wayne slept with her in 2010, has urged Coleen to leave him. “He’s a d***head, he’s a rat,” the Big Brother star and escort says. “We know what he’s like. Just be a single parent and be strong, this person is going to continue to hurt you. A leopard never changes its spots. Once a cheat, always a cheat.”
