Fall from Grace

-

I’m ashamed to say I’m an African woman living in Africa. Mrs Mugabe, you may be the epitome of high fashion in Harare, but as an African mother of two adult sons you’re an absolute disgrace to African women at large (YOU, 31 August). Your sons are delinquents par excellence.

Take your blinkers off, Auntie Gucci, and stop protecting them. What sort of adults are they going to be, with you carrying out kamikaze assaults on innocent people?

God doesn’t sleep. He will judge you for your atrocious behaviour. You should come to Namibia and allow our president’s wife, the lovely Mme Monica Geingos, the opportunity to show you how to be an African mother instead of a power-hungry, venomous person such as yourself. You’re a traitor to all African women. PROUD NAMIBIAN, EMAIL Grace Mugabe might be very pretty but that doesn’t mean that she’s a good person.

Inner beauty is much better and doesn’t fade with age! The Dalai Lama advised against marrying for looks. Will you still love your spouse when the looks fade and only her inner essence remains? For those with the means, plastic surgery might help for a while, but then again, are we really attracted to that which is plastic?

We’re often attracted to celebrities and Hollywood stars, not for their integrity but because of their appearances. It’s all an act. Most of them lack the wisdom and goodwill to hold a marriage together or raise happy children.

There’s a Jewish saying that suggests a handsome person might be nice to look at, but that it’s better to live with someone who’s wise. Whereas Africans say it’s best to marry someone who’s kind-hearted.

On a spiritual level, how we look on the outside is irrelevant. Don’t judge a book by its cover!

There are spiritual giants such as Mandela, the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa who are better role models. MARTIN ZAGNOEV, SUNNINGDALE
