We just love these genius tricks that make life so much easier

Work those arms! Buy a set of arm (or leg) weights and attach them to your wrists when blow-drying or ironing your hair. This ensures you get a decent arm workout while giving yourself a great hairdo.

Got chewing gum stuck in your hair? Harden the gum by rubbing an ice cube over it – and it will be easier to remove. For extra grip when opening tight nail polish bottles, wind rubber bands around the bottle tops. Paint keys with various shades of nail polish to easily tell them apart. This way you won’t waste time trying similarlooking keys on the wrong locks.

Use a pretty scarf to jazz up an old pair of flip-flops. Start by making a knot at the front of the flip-flop, then wrap the fabric around the straps. Once you’re done, tie the excess fabric around your ankle. Adorbs!

Want to smell great all day? Rub petroleum jelly on your pulse points before spraying a fragrance over it.

Spilt nail polish on the floor? Reach for the sugar. Simply pour some over the spilt polish and let it sit for a few minutes. The sugar soaks up the nail polish and all you have to do is wipe the mess away with a cloth or paper towel.

Apply a coat of clear nail polish on the inside of costume jewellery rings to stop those dreaded green stains from blemishing your fingers. YOU’LL NEED

A board – this could be anything from an old sheet of metal to a metal baking tray.

Self-adhesive magnetic tape, available at any hardware store – or simply use magnets off the back of old fridge ornaments.

Spray paint or fabric to decorate your board. The one pictured is a baking tray trimmed with decorative washi tape (available at most stationery stores). METHOD

After decorating the board, add magnetic tape (or glue small magnets) to each item of make-up. Heavier items might need a few more strips.

Mount the board to a wall with glue or simply let it rest against a free wall.
