Use an app such as Lookout to protect your device the same way you’d use antivirus software on your PC. The basic version of Lookout is free for Android and iOS phones.

Set a password-protected lock screen on your phone and tablet.

Don’t save passwords and PIN numbers on your devices. Update your apps and devices regularly – the updates often contain new security features.
