Want to get the most out of your Gmail account? Here are three nifty things you didn’t know it could do

IF YOU thought your Gmail was just for sending and receiving mails, think again! Here are fun tips to help you get more out of your account.

ADVANCE SEARCH AND FILTERS

When signing up for a Gmail account, you get the whole Google experience – which means your account can access everything in Google. So it’s no surprise that Gmail has an amazing search technology feature.

By clicking on the grey drop-down arrow at the far right of the search bar, you open Gmail’s advanced search. With this feature you can track down a specific detail to find a single message – or type in a general word to find groups of emails.

Once you’ve found the messages you’re searching for, you can save that search as a filter.

CREATE A ‘CANNED RESPONSE’

The canned response feature allows you to create templates of your most commonly sent emails and place them in a message with the click of a button.

Simply click on the drop-down arrow next to the gear icon on the top right-hand side of your inbox, then select “Settings”. Click on the “Labs” tab, then navigate to “canned responses” and click on the button to enable it and save changes.

In the lower right corner of your new email window, you’ll see an arrow. Click on it and a menu will open. Select “new canned responses” then choose a template name that’s easy to remember and click “OK”.

HOW TO GET RID OF PROMO EMAILS

There’s a way to get rid of unwanted promo emails with Gmail’s auto unsubscribe function, without having to navigate to the company website and answer endless questions about why you no longer want to receive the mails.

The process is easy – simply click on the “unsubscribe” option to the right of the promo email address and you’ll be promo free.
