Pacific Rim Uprising is set in a future where Earth is at war with gigantic sea monsters called the Kaiju. To fight them humans have created the Jaegers – giant robots controlled by pilots.

Pacific Rim raked in almost half a billion dollars at the global box office.

Guillermo del Toro, who directed the first movie, turned down the sequel to direct The Shape of Water, which won the 2018 Oscar for best picture.

John Boyega (below with Scott in a scene from the film), who reprises his role as Jake Pentecost, was also a producer on the movie.

The film marks Steven S DeKnight’s directorial debut. He’s best known as the creator and head writer of the Starz series Spartacus.
