There’s no doubt Sharon is part of a new wave of Hollywood icons who’ve defied the curse of the “ageing star” and remained relevant.

“I don’t want to be an ‘ageless beauty’,” she says. “I want to be a woman who is the best I can be at my age.”

Sharon is dismissive of plastic surgery. “We have 400 000 girls with beachy blonde hair, the same nose, gigantic lips, cheek implants, and little Chiclets for teeth. Are they really prettier?”
