A match made in Louis Vuitton
Choreographer SOMIZI MHLONGO does nothing by half measures. And what could be more romantic than an engagement in Paris? The TV and radio host popped the question while he and boyfriend MOHALE MOTAUNG were in the City of Love and shared the news on Instagram once they were back in South Africa.
“My bestie, @mohale_77, life is sweeter with you by my side,” Somizi captioned the pictures, while Mohale captioned his picture of a diamond-encrusted ring on his finger with, “I said yes!!! Yes, I’m getting married.”
The pair apparently met at an exclusive Louis Vuitton and Moët & Chandon event in July last year and saw each other again shortly afterwards when Somizi (45) invited Mohale (22) to his book launch. Mohale is a student at Wits University and describes himself as an “economist in the making”.
Somizi and his bae, who love coordinating their outfits as often as possible, shopped up a storm on their European trip, visiting both the Louis Vuitton and Christian Louboutin stores in Paris. They also travelled to Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
While there’s been a flood of congratulatory messages since the couple announced their engagement, the Idols SA judge has also had to deal with some negative remarks about his sexuality on social media.
But Somizi isn’t letting the haters get to him. A recent Instagram video saw him singing his own rendition of Beyoncé’s Single Ladies – his lyrics included “all the single gays” – while waving around his left hand to show off his engagement ring.
