CYNTHIA& THECITY
FANS left disappointed after the third Sex and the City film was nipped in the bud last year will be interested to know a different kind of drama is unfolding in the Big Apple. Actress star CYNTHIA NIXON (51), who played crimson-haired lawyer Miranda Hobbes, has announced her decision to run for governor of the city that inspired the iconic TV show.
Cynthia, a respected human rights activist, revealed she’d been considering entering the race for nine years.
She will go up against incumbent Andrew Cuomo in the September elections.
Within an hour of posting her announcement video she was the No 1 trending topic on Twitter in the US and her announcement video got more than one million views on the day it was released.
“Cynthia Nixon running for governor is the best Sex and the City 3 storyline yet,” one fan wrote.
Actress Kristin Davis (53), who played Charlotte York in the show, has been an early cheerleader and tweeted her approval soon after the announcement, saying her close friend would make an excellent governor.
Also in Cynthia’s cheerleading squad are her three kids: Samantha (21) and Charles (15), whose dad is her ex-husband, photographer Danny Mozes, and Max (7), whom she shares with her activist wife, Christine Marinoni.
Go, Miranda . . . er, Cynthia!
