THE ROYAL FAST LANE
Even the Duchess of Cambridge Kate (36), who dated Prince William (35) for almost a decade before their 2011 wedding, wasn’t expected to learn the ropes this fast.
Just three months after Meghan and Harry (33) announced their engagement, she was in the centre of the royal fold at the all-important Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey.
Kate wasn’t expected to attend an event as important as this with senior royals until a wedding band was firmly on her finger, People magazine points out.
Yet if Meghan is feeling the pressure, it doesn’t show. In fact, she seems to be thriving, lending her glossy brand of California chic to every occasion.
She’s also passionate about all those charity engagements – and they aren’t all for the camera either.
Last month, Meghan quietly visited a mosque in London, where she met those helping the destitute in the aftermath of the tragic Grenfell Tower fire that claimed 71 lives in June last year.
“Meghan has been regularly making private visits to organisations as she gets to know the UK charity sector,” a palace source told People. “She’s on a very busy schedule behind the scenes. She has her wedding preparation and is meeting a number of people all the time – from Harry’s charities to staff at the household and the Royal Foundation.”
Kind-hearted Meghan is dying to get up and running, says Lorraine Heggessey, CEO of the Royal Foundation, which oversees Harry, Will and Kate’s charity work.
“She wants to make a difference. And she will make a difference.”
