AFTER a spate of celebrity breakups EMILY BLUNT and JOHN KRASINSKI are keeping our celeb couple dreams alive. The duo and their daughters, HAZEL (4) and VIOLET (1), were spotted on holiday in Hawaii soon after news broke that their film, A Quiet Place, had recorded the biggest opening weekend for an original horror film, grossing nearly $300 million (R3,75 billion) at the box office. The flick, which stars both John (38) and Emily (35), is also John’s third directorial project – although many fans still remember him as dopey Jim Halpert in the US version of The Office. But even though John has chopped the floppy locks to become a big-time director, his wife is still the bigger star. Emily is one of only four women on the list of Hollywood’s 20 top-earning actors, with Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence and Sandra Bullock rounding out the quartet of leading ladies.
Emily and John, who tied the knot at their friend George Clooney’s Lake Como estate in Italy in July 2010, said they weren’t hesitant about working together despite many people warning that they’d be “divorced by the end”.
“I think you take on a different persona when you’re at work; it’s a different version of yourself than us just hanging with the kids and going through our day,” Emily says. “But luckily we really accepted the ‘work versions’ of each other, and it was super bonding.”
Emily, who’s due to star as Mary Poppins in an upcoming reboot of the family musical, recently said she knew John was the one “disarmingly soon” after meeting through a mutual friend nearly a decade ago. “We were engaged within 10 months, but I think we probably knew before that.” Couple goals, right?
