WHAT’S GOING ON WITH JOHNNY?
When JOHNNY DEPP recently stopped to pose with fans, he looked dramatically different from the Hollywood heart-throb who was twice crowned People magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Year. In the pictures, taken while on tour with his band the Hollywood Vampires, the 55-year-old appeared pale and gaunt. “I think my hero looks ill,” commented one concerned admirer on Facebook. Others didn’t seem to recognise the actor at all. “F**k me is that Johnny Depp?” another fan tweeted. Many were quick to assume that the new look is the result of some hardcore method acting, with many fans insisting he was looking less than healthy after playing a terminally ill academic in the forthcoming film Richard Says Goodbye.
But according to insiders Johnny’s emaciated appearance has nothing to do with work – it’s a result of his turbulent personal life.
Soon after his acrimonious divorce from actress Amber Heard (32) was finalised last year Johnny became embroiled in a legal dispute with his former management company, amid claims they’d mismanaged his millions.
The father of Lily Rose (19) and Jack Depp III (16) is also being sued by former bodyguards who claim that he forced them to work in a toxic environment at his home and that they sometimes had to act as a babysitter for the star.
Things recently came to head when the beleaguered actor reportedly attacked a location manager on the set of his upcoming film, City of Lies. Johnny – who’d allegedly been drinking and smoking on the set that day – verbally abused the man and then tried to punch him according to sources.
The same sources described the situation on set as “toxic”.
