TEMPURA ONION RINGS
SERVES 6 Preparation: 20 min Standing: 30 min Cooking: 20 min
TEMPURA BATTER 180ml (¾c) cake flour 60ml (¼c) cornflour salt 1 egg 250ml (1c) soda water ONIONS 3-4 white onions, sliced in rings, softened slightly by pouring boiling water over, followed by ice water oil for deep-frying
1 Tempura batter Mix all the ingredients and set aside for at least 30 minutes. 2 Onions Thoroughly pat the onion rings dry, dip in the batter to coat then deepfry in hot oil. 3 Fry until golden brown and drain on paper towels.
