Have you heard
TO SOME, actress REESE WITHERSPOON has been a feminist icon ever since she donned that adorable pink suit and headed to law school in 2001’s Legally Blonde – and the 42-year-old is still at it. US magazine Fast Company recently honoured her for her work as a pioneer of the #MeToo movement, her success as a producer of acclaimed films such as Wild (2014) and Gone Girl (2014) and Golden Globe-winning TV series Big Little Lies, and for running a production company, Hello Sunshine, which has a filmmaking lab for women.
In the accompanying interview the A Wrinkle in Time star discusses the impact she she made with Legally Blonde. “‘ I went to law school because of you,’ they’ll say, or, ‘You helped me believe in myself.’ “I didn’t even understand when I was making it that it was a bit of a modern feminist manifesto. A lot of women related to the feeling of being underestimated.” Clearly in need of some downtime, the Oscar-winner was spotted catching a few rays at a resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, late last month. Reese, who’s shooting the second season of Big Little Lies, chilled with a drink as she chatted to her husband, talent agent JIM TOTH (48).
