The king and queen are back – and killin’ it!
Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s surprise release of their joint album, Everything Is Love, a few weeks ago sent fans into a frenzy – we find out what the fuss is all about
The nine-track record by the husbandand-wife duo appears to be a shoutout to the world that despite everything that’s gone down in recent years, they’re still happily married.
Bey of course sung about her hubby’s infidelity on her 2016 album, Lemonade, which he responded to on his 2017 disc, 4:44, owning up and apologising to her.
On Everything Is Love the pair gush about their love for each other, but also don’t hold back on the disses. We take a look. They’re building a legacy “My greatgreat-grandchildren already rich/That’s a lot of brown chil’ren on your Forbes list”, Beyoncé sings on Boss – a message that she intends to leave behind a financial empire for her kids and future descendants. No love for Kimye & fam On Friends, Jay raps about why he and Bey didn’t show up at ex-pal Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s 2014 wedding: “I ain’t going to nobody for nothin’ when me and my wife beefin’/I don’t care if the house on fire.”
He also seemingly disses Kanye’s sisters-in-law Kylie and Kendall Jenner for putting pictures of late rappers Tupac and Biggie on their T-shirt range. “Y’all put n****s on a T-shirt/It hurts you ain’t never meet ’em,” he sings. No time for Drake & Kanye On Boss, it seems Jay-Z throws shade at both Kanye and Drake for backing out of deals with his streaming service, Tidal. “N****s getting jerked/That shit hurts/I take it personally/N****s rather work for the man than to work with me/just so they can pretend they on my level.” Loyalty to family comes first Bey shows where her loyalties lie when she sings on Nice, “If I gave two f**ks/two f**ks about streaming numbers/would have put Lemonade up on Spotify,” refer- ring to her decision to release her last album exclusively on Jay’s Tidal. Jay doesn’t need the Super Bowl On Apes**t, Jay-Z explains why he turned down a chance to perform at the Super Bowl. “I said no to the Super Bowl/You need me, I don’t need you/Every night we in the end zone/Tell the NFL we in stadiums too.” Jay’s not happy about the Grammys Jay-Z criticises the Grammys committee for not giving him any wins at this year’s ceremony for his album 4:44, despite his eight nominations. “Tell the Grammys f**k that 0 for eight s**t”, he raps on Apes**t. They toast their own success On the bonus track, Salud!, they look back at how far they’ve come and give each other a celebratory toast. It also features a cameo by daughter Blue Ivy who gives a shoutout to her younger twin siblings, Sir and Rumi Carter. S
