BRIDGING THE GAP

-

Three men are hiking through a forest in Ireland when they come across a leprechaun caught in a fox trap. They free him and in exchange he promises to grant them three wishes to reward them for their good deed.

When the hikers come to a raging river in full flood they realise that in order to get to the other side they’ll need the leprechaun’s help, so the first man says, “Leprechaun, please give me the strength I need to cross this river.”

The next second, poof! The guy suddenly has strong arms and legs. He gets into the river and starts swimming, but even with his new strength it takes him about two hours to get to the other side and he nearly drowns twice.

Having seen what happened to his friend the second guy asks, “Leprechaun, please give me the strength – and the tools – to cross this river.”

The next second, poof! The guy suddenly has strong arms and legs and on the ground in front of him there’s a rowing boat and an oar. The boat nearly capsizes twice but he manages to row across in about an hour.

The third man doesn’t want to put himself through what the first two had to face so he asks, “Leprechaun, please give me the strength, the tools – and the intelligence – to cross this river.”

The next second, poof! The guy finds he’s been turned into a woman. So she checks her map, hikes 100m upstream and walks across the bridge.
