Revamp your beauty routine for spring
Winter can be hard on your skin, hair and nails. Here’s how to revamp your beauty routine to cope with the change of seasons
NAILS
Your nails may have become brittle in winter, especially if you often use artificial products such as conventional or gel polish, or acrylic nails.
Serums and oils can help restore strength because they’re absorbed by the nail, fortifying it from the inside out.
Hand masks are beneficial too so treat yourself to these once a week if you have extremely brittle nails. While treating nails, keep them free of artificial products so they can breathe and have a chance to repair.
SKIN
The first step to restoring soft, glowing skin is exfoliating, which gets rid of dead skin cells and removes roughness.
The next step is moisturising. Apply body lotion every time you step out of the shower. If your skin needs extra TLC after winter, use a moisturising body wash too – it cleans without drying your skin.
During warmer months it’s important to exfoliate often. Your skin sheds and perspires more and exfoliating helps to open up your pores to keep your skin looking and feeling fresh.
HAIR
Like the rest of your body, your scalp reacts to the change of season. As the weather gets warmer the scalp releases heat through its pores, resulting in more sweat and oil being produced. This affects your hair, which can become more fragile during the transition.
Clarifying shampoos remove excess build-up while fortifying treatments help maintain the hair’s elasticity.
Wash with a clarifying shampoo and use a treatment on your hair every two weeks for optimum

FACE
Your face is usually the first to show the effects of the change of season.
Skin can look dull or rough due to the changing weather in spring, when it can be cold one day and warm the next.
Use products that help to clear up the skin to reveal an even and brighter complexion, and add overnight treatments and serums to your beauty routine.
Drink enough water daily (about two litres) to help boost moisture levels from the inside out.
Remember to apply sunscreen, no matter the weather.
