Life’s been good to ZAKEEYA PATEL (30) – she’s still in the throes of newly wedded bliss and has bagged a role in the SABC3 crime drama The Docket.

The actress and presenter, who wed economist ROB PRICE (31) in November, plays Lexi Patel, an ambitious journalist who’s willing to do whatever it takes to scoop a story. We tracked her down for a quick catch-up.

HOW HAS LIFE CHANGED SINCE YOU GOT HITCHED? I cook a lot more – but that has nothing to do with being married. My granny has been passing on her legacy of Indian recipes to me, which is why I’ve been cooking more. Rob actually does most of the cooking at home. Nothing has really changed. It’s just a lot calmer after the madness of a wedding!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH YOUR HUBBY? Dance, travel and eat! We’ve just been to Mozambique for two weeks to chase summer and we did all three of my favourites! We ended up dancing with the locals at a roadside shebeen in Vilankulo and eating prawns the size of my forearm.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU HAVE A DAY OFF? Go gallivanting with my granny, take my four-year-old niece and 10-year-old nephew somewhere fun, or sit down to reply to emails and interviews.

WHAT SONG IS ON REPEAT IN YOUR CAR? Good Luck’s Be Yourself. There’s a rule in our house that I’m only allowed to play a song once because I have this annoying habit of playing a song to death.

YOUR DREAM HOLIDAY DESTINATION? The East – Japan and Singapore. After watching the movie Crazy Rich Asians I’m even more excited to go to Singapore.

WHAT SERIES ARE YOU BINGE-WATCHING? I lost sleep getting through The Handmaid’s Tale, now watching Younger and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and I’m not-so-patiently waiting for a new season of Jane the Virgin.
