YOU (South Africa)

A great example

-

Gerry and Peter Cedras, reading about your caring and your love for your ill dog (YOU, 6 September) made me and my family so emotional.

You’re true heroes, two special boys, so brave to walk so far to save the life of your precious Meisie. We admire you for what you did. SUE BARDENE, EMAIL

Peter and Gerry are the heroes of the year. Respect and love to their mom, Henna, who taught them to love and respect all of God’s creatures. There’s hope for our beautiful country.

Thank you to all the staff at the Animal Welfare Society for offering to help Meisie and for all the work you’re doing for the communities in Philippi, Elsies River, Mitchell’s Plain and the Cape Flats for 90 years. You deserve all our gratitude and donations from all over the world. God’s richest blessings for you all.

I pray Peter and Gerry will continue to be ambassadors for our furkids. JOY WILKINS, ROODEPOORT

I confess I blubbed when I read about the wonderful brothers Peter and Gerry Cedras and their dog, Meisie. The family deserve every good thing coming their way.

My friend Ariel is another person who makes me feel there are more good than bad people in our country. She found a teeny-weeny abandoned kitten a few months ago in Hanover Park and has given her a loving home.

They say you can judge a country by the way it treats its animals. MOXIE, EMAIL

It brought tears to my eyes to read how these children walked to the shelter to get help. You can just see the love in their faces and the dog’s eyes when looking at them.

I wish all children experienced the same kind of love for animals. Perhaps then we wouldn’t have neglected, starving creatures and all would have loving homes instead of being chucked away, drowned, abused and so on.

It all starts in the home and these two little boys are going to be great animal ambassadors. Their mom can be so proud of them. I salute them all. P BALDWIN, EMAIL
