COSBY SHOW STAR JOB-SHAMED

-

HE’S not exactly a household name, but GEOFFREY OWENS might become one after he recently made headlines for doing something most of us do daily: a hard day’s work.

US website Fox News recently posted an article that many claimed “job-shamed” Geoffrey (57), who played Elvin Tibideaux – husband of eldest Huxtable daughter Sondra – on The Cosby Show from 1985 until 1992.

The actor recently started trending online after a shopper shared photos of him working as a cashier at a New Jersey branch of Trader Joe’s, a US retailer.

But many of Geoffrey’s peers – including actors James Woods, Terry Crews and former Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Nate Richert – stood up for him on social media, commending his work ethic. Acrimony director Tyler Perry even offered him a job.

Geoffrey later appeared on Good Morning America to discuss the situation – proudly wearing his Trader Joe’s employee badge, although he noted he’d since quit working at the store because of all the attention.

“I’d been teaching, acting and directing for 30-plus years but got to a point where it just didn’t add up and you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do,” Geoffrey explained.

The actor has accepted Tyler’s offer and will star in 10 episodes of Oprah Winfrey Network show The Haves and the Have Nots, gossip site TMZ reports.

We just love a happy ending!
