Britney: more drama with her dad

Britney has lost more custody of her children thanks to allegations of abuse of her son by her father

HE’S always been there for her. Through bad relationships, personal dramas, career glitches and meltdowns – the one constant in Britney Spears’ life has been her father, Jamie. Until now. These days the 37-year-old pop legend is reportedly barely on speaking terms with her dad amid shocking allegations of child abuse, ongoing custody issues and more. In a revelation that has shocked fans, Jamie (67) has been accused of physically abusing Britney’s eldest son, Sean (13), and is now under investigation by the cops. Britney’s ex-husband and father of her two boys, Kevin Federline (41), filed a police report in late August accusing his former father- in- law of “breaking down a door and violently shaking” the boy during a heated exchange. The teen and his younger brother, Jayden (12), were visiting their grandfather

at his condo in California when the alleged altercation occurred. Sean says he locked himself in a room because he felt unsafe but an enraged Jamie broke down the door and confronted him.

When Britney heard about the incident she removed her sons from her father’s home and told her ex what had happened. Kevin laid a charge of battery with the police and both Sean and Jayden have taken a restraining order out against their grandfather.

Now, in the aftermath of this latest drama, Jamie has taken the drastic decision to step down as Britney’s conservator – a position he’s held since 2008 when she was placed on involuntary psychiatric hold and forcibly hospitalised after suffering a mental breakdown.

Apparently, Jamie decided that as a result of Kevin’s allegations against him, it would be best if he temporarily relinquished the responsibility of running his daughter’s life.

“Jamie seems stressed about it, and it’s not a situation he wants to be in,” an insider says.

Especially now as he continues to battle major health issues following an operation last year to fix a ruptured colon.

According to legal documents, Jamie has asked the courts to appoint Jodi

Montgomery, Britney’s care manager, as her temporary conservator for the next few months.

But the worst thing to come out of this entire ordeal – and what’s said to be hurting Britney the most – is that it’s led to her losing more precious time with her beloved boys.

Just four days after the traumatic incident, Kevin successfully applied for his and Britney’s 50-50 custody agreement to be adjusted. According to the new ruling, he now gets 70% custody – a move that’s said to have left Britney devastated and her relationship with her dad hanging by a thread.

“Of course she loves her dad, but things have been very intense lately and there have been some seriously ugly arguments between them behind the scenes,” a source dishes.

“There’s been a lot of talk of Britney blaming him for what’s happened with the custody deal. She insists that everything’s fine and she has her life under control, but it burns like hell that a judge is reducing her access to the boys.”

This isn’t the first time she’s gone through something like this. Back in 2007 – a year after they divorced – a judge gave Kevin full custody of the kids after Britney suffered a very public meltdown which saw her shaving her own head in an LA hair salon.

Since then, she’s worked hard at regaining her custody rights. But now, following the latest setback, she feels like she’s back at square one.

NO MATTER what life has thrown at her, Britney has always remained a loving and devoted mom. “Motherhood has taught me how to put others’ needs ahead of my own.

“My sons are my most precious gift and I always want to do right by

them,” she told Vegas Player magazine a few years ago.

She’s also gone on record saying the “best relationship I’ve ever had is with my boys”.

But in recent months fans have often wondered about her true state of mind.

Other than her sold-out Piece of Me tour last year, things have been pretty quiet on the work front for Britney since the release of her ninth studio album, Glory, in 2016.

All the family drama is evidently taking its toll. Earlier this month, she dyed her golden locks brown. Days later, she shared a video on Instagram of herself working out in a hotel, telling her 22,6 million followers that she was on a “much-needed vacay by myself ”.

It’s been a stressful year for the Grammy winner. In March she checked into a mental-wellness facility, apparently to get help with coping with her dad’s life-threatening illness.

A source explained that it wasn’t “a rehab for drugs or alcohol” but rather a place where she could “rejuvenate and rest”. “It gives her the ability to recharge with some real peace and quiet,” the insider added.

It was reported at the time that she was having issues with her psychiatric medication and that it had stopped working effectively.

“Medication is key for Britney and that’s what she’s mainly focusing on at this point. It hasn’t been an easy process and she still obsesses over things and worries that people aren’t supporting her,” a source told American entertainment website ET Online.

When she checked out of the clinic in April, she seemed stronger and more determined to take back control of her life. In a hearing, she asked a judge for “more freedom”, which resulted in a court-ordered investigation into her life – the results of which have yet to be announced.

But as she distances herself from her father, her mom, Lynne, is playing a bigger role in her life. At one point they were estranged but they now seem a lot closer.

Earlier this year Lynne (64), who split from Jamie in 2002, was seen accompanying Britney to a court appearance from which the former pop princess emerged barefoot.

“Lynne’s big dream is to take charge of this situation and straighten it all out,” an insider reveals. “Britney’s not opposed to having help from her, but her main thing is that she doesn’t think she needs all of this micro-managing – by her mom, dad or anyone.” Amid all this drama, however, Britney’s love life seems to be on track. She’s been with boyfriend Sam Asghari (25), a personal trainer, since 2016 and he’s been a pillar of support.

He recently even hinted that marriage may be on the cards someday, saying, “Absolutely. This is something that every couple should do”.

“Sam has been a real rock throughout all of this and a lot of people wonder how she’d cope if he wasn’t on the scene,” an insider says.

When she shared pics of her new dye job on Instagram he was one of her most vocal supporters. “Beautiful – blonde or black,” he wrote.

But many fans believe it’s going to take far more than just a change in hair colour to help Brit get her life back on track.
