PLAY DATES & PICNICS

-

Although the Cambridges know they’ll never be able to let their kids be entirely free, they want them to engage with other kids in a relaxed way.

It’s why they’ve sent them to the schools they have. Unlike William and Harry, who attended seriously posh boys-only schools for both their primary and high school years, George and Charlotte are at coed schools where the focus is more on kindness than your social standing.

Apart from schoolfriends, there’s no shortage of cousins to play with.

They’re often spotted with second cousins Mia Tindall (5) and her oneyear-old sister, Lena, whose parents are William’s cousin Zara Tindall and her husband, Mike.

The former UK rugby player is believed to be George’s favourite uncle. “George loves Mike because he larks around and never takes himself too seriously,” an insider says.

Play dates with outsiders can be tricky, an insider told People.

That means, apart from their cousins, the Cambridge kids rely on each other and it’s clear they have a close relationship.

In July George, Charlotte and Louis enjoyed a day out at the polo, where Louis stole the show. He was spotted wearing black shades and pulling funny faces at his aunt Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, as she stood cradling his baby cousin Archie.

Kate treated her brood to a good old-fashioned picnic, straight out of the boot of her car. And after they’d eaten, George and Charlotte were spotted enjoying a game of football.

‘Hugs are very important. I keep saying that to my children’
