FELICITY BREAKSHER SILENCE

-

IT’S nervous times for FELICITY HUFFMAN as she awaits sentencing for her part in the college admissions scandal that rocked Hollywood earlier this year. But at least the actress can count on the support of family and friends while going through her court ordeal. Her husband, WILLIAM H MACY, and former co-star EVA LONGORIA wrote two of the 27 letters in her sentencing memorandum in the hope that the judge will show leniency when the Get shorty actress is sentenced later this month.

In his letter the Shameless star claims his wife has always been frightened by the responsibility of being a mother and that it influenced her ability to use her common sense when it comes to their children. He also wrote about the impact the scandal has had on their home life, explaining that one of their daughters “has nightmares from the FBI agents waking her that morning with guns drawn”.

Felicity (56) was taken into custody on 12 March when police showed up at their Hollywood home early in the morning to arrest her for paying $15 000 (R225 000) to a college prep company to doctor her daughter’s high school exam scores.

“Felicity’s relationship with her daughters exploded on 12 March and

rebuilding will be a long process,” William (69) wrote, adding that their family has since been going to therapy. “The hurt and anger will take years to work through, but we’re making progress.” Meanwhile Eva (44) detailed her experience of being bullied on the set of Desperate Housewives, writing that Felicity was one of the few people who stood up for her. “To a young, naive Mexican girl who felt as if I didn’t belong, those gestures meant the world to me,” the Dora and the Lost City of Gold star wrote of her longtime pal. In her own letter, Felicity claims she simply didn’t want her daughter Sophia’s poor maths scores to prevent her from being considered for acting programmes and that she thought she’d be a bad mom if she didn’t pay the college prep company. Prosecutors are urging the judge to impose a one-month jail sentence and a $15 000 fine while her lawyers are asking for probation, a fine and community service.
