Finding love when you least expect it
Ten years ago I decided to stop dating and to focus on my studies. Then when I started working I felt the need to start dating again.
But I remained single, lonely and searching for a year. Then one day I received a call from a stranger. It was clear that the man had called the wrong number. I said, “Wrong number,” and hung up.
But for some reason his voice repeated itself in my mind the whole day and haunted me in my sleep that night.
Fortunately he called the next morning to tell me he liked my voice and would like us to meet.
“Blind date? Not my style,” I snapped even though I wanted to meet him.
Nevertheless we started to text each other and eventually agreed to meet at a shopping complex.
A few months later we started dating. Two years later we had a baby boy.
After a few years, I started to wonder why my partner hadn’t proposed. But I remained calm because we were still happy together.
In May I received a call from my partner’s phone but a strange man greeted me. He asked me to come to a restaurant in a shopping complex quickly because my partner had passed out.
I got there as soon as I could, only to meet my man holding a diamond ring in his hand. He went down on one knee, family and friends by his side.
I was reduced to tears when I recall how the wrong call had brought us together and the way my partner used a phone call to surprise me again. It was the best 10th anniversary ever. SO IN LOVE, EMAIL
SI recently remarried after a 15 years of widowhood. I wasn’t really of a mind to get married again, but when I met my present husband I realised no man or woman is an island, and took the plunge.
I want to share the message that if you’re lucky enough to meet a kind, caring, considerate individual as I did, there’s so much more to life. So much more sharing and caring than there is in a single life. NEWLY MARRIED, EMAIL
