COMEBACK HITS Selena (27) announced her pop comeback with Lose You to Love Me, which went straight to No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. “My first No 1! This song is so dear to my heart,” she gushed on Instagram. And followed it up with Look at Her Now.

BIEBER INSPIRATION Both songs are said to be about her and longtime love Justin Bieber’s breakup. Justin (25) has since married model Hailey Baldwin (23). Speaking about Lose You to Love Me, she says, “I wrote the song in January. I just woke up one day and I knew it was time. It’s the perfect way to wrap up a chapter of heartbreak and start a whole other journey.” While it was tough for her to be so vulnerable, she felt she owed it to her fans and herself. “I wanted to be honest with people. I’ve never not been. I might not be overly chatty about it all the time, but this is where I’m able to release it; this is where it turns into art.”

VIRAL MASHUP It didn’t take long for an intrepid producer by the name of Andy Wu to produce a mashup of Selena’s Lose You to Love Me and Bieber’s 2015 hit Sorry to create a tune that – unsurprisingly – went viral. His four-minute clip starts with the opening notes of Sorry before switching to Selena’s tune and then jumping between the two. “It feels like I’m hearing both side[s] of the story at the same time,” a fan said.

NEW ALBUM IN THE PIPELINE She hasn’t shared a release date for her third record, only promising it will be soon. So what can fans expect?

It’ll be her signature pop sound but with a “lot more soulful tracks”, she says. “I explored more with electric and acoustic guitar.”
