PREY: MOONCRASH
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
Mooncrash is an add-on expansion to the 2017 first-person shooter game Prey and is available as downloadable content (DLC) for players who already own the original. And just like Prey, it more than delivers.
The original game is a survival horror set on board a space station where a hostile alien species, the Typhon, has escaped confinement.
Mooncrash is set after the events of Prey but doesn’t really have much to do with it. You play Peter, a hacker who must find out what happened on a secret moonbase that was abandoned after a tragedy. To do this Peter runs simulations of how the five people who survived managed to escape.
The player starts with one character at a time and has to guide them to safety through the station while fighting off the aliens. Once the character has escaped, the player goes back and guides each of the others out following a different route. Each character has unique powers and abilities, which either make the simulation easy or difficult. All this has to happen in one go because if your character dies, the simulation resets and the layout of the base changes so you can’t rely on the knowledge you’ve gained.
But collecting items earns you points, which you can carry over to the next simulation to improve the characters’ abilities, equipment and health, so it get easier as you continue.
Mooncrash keeps you entertained as each simulation is different and challenging as you progress through the characters. Gamers who enjoyed Prey should give this add-on a try.
