SHE’S best known for her androgynous style, so BILLIE EILISH’s fans were surprised when she shed her signature style recently to pose in vintage underwear for British Vogue’s June issue.

The 19-year-old’s dramatic transformation attracted huge applause from many of her steadfast fans, including industry friends such as models Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Bieber and fellow musician Meghan Trainor.

But a host of fans swarmed Twitter to criticise the move, with many claiming her record label masterminded the look to keep her “relevant”.

The sensual Vogue cover comes after Billie spent much of her time in the spotlight defiantly refusing to show her skin.

“I never want the world to know everything about me. I mean, that’s why I wear big, baggy clothes,” she announced in a Calvin Klein ad in 2019. “Nobody can be like, ‘She’s slim-thick, she’s not slim-thick, she’s got a flat ass, she’s got a fat ass.’ No one can say any of that because they don’t know,’’ she added.

Despite the backlash from fans the Therefore I Am singer took to Instagram to defend her image overhaul by posting an edited version of a “sexist” Mail Online headline.

“Proof that women can change their minds and reclaim autonomy over their own bodies. Billie Eilish shocks fans by swapping baggy clothes for lingerie in Vogue – despite years of being an actual child,” read a revised Daily Mail headline written by writer-influencer Emily Clarkson and shared by Billie with her 84,4 million followers.
