WHEN KANYE “YE” WEST suddenly started lovebombing actress JULIA FOX in the midst of one his erratic episodes, their relationship was bound to be anything but normal.
Now Julia has lifted the lid on the whirlwind affair that looked like a mix of fashion parades, jetsetting and endless paparazzi moments. But it wasn’t all glitz and glamour. In her new memoir, Down the Drain, she describes the relationship, which lasted less than two months in 2021, as a “sick, twisted game” in which Ye constantly sought publicity.
Julia (33) says that in hindsight Ye (46) “weaponised” her against his exwife, Kim Kardashian, who’d separated from the rapper just months before.
HOW IT STARTED
They met in a club at a New Year’s Eve party in Miami in 2021. “Without saying a word,” she writes, they hugged and Ye held her tight, “his hands scanning the folds of my body”, as she began to kiss his neck.
The next day Ye took her on a date and asked her to be his girlfriend. While they were talking a photographer took “candid” pics of the pair, which appeared on a news site the next day.

In true Ye style, he quickly took it upon himself to change her fashion sense. When they went on another date at a restaurant in New York, Julia was met with racks of clothing curated by the fashion designer. Yet another photographer was snapping away as she tried on the clothes.
When she complained that one of the tops didn’t fit her, Ye reportedly offered, “I’ll get you a boob job if you want.” The next day Julia was surprised to learn that he’d sent photos of the couple looking lovedup to Interview magazine and expected her to submit a paragraph to the mag describing how they met.
TURBULENCE
In the weeks that followed, the couple would fly to Paris, where Julia says things started taking a turn for the worse. The City of Love was anything but cosy as the rapper started berating her about everything.
When they returned to New York, Ye’s people informed Julia that he was taking a monthlong phone break, but would be there for her upcoming birthday.
BIRTHDAY BREAK-UP
On her special day, Ye showed up with Birkin bags for her and her friends, which they’d been told to open repeatedly while a photographer snapped away.
“We do as we’re told and awkwardly throw our arms up and scream for joy as he stands off in the background, looking on with pride,” Julia writes. It was the final nail in the coffin and the next day she texted him that she was ready to end things.
