THE ABORTION BOMBSHELL
The biggest jaw-dropper in the book is the revelation that she became pregnant at 19 while dating fellow pop star Justin Timberlake.
She was happy about it but Justin, who was part of the boyband *NSYNC at the time, didn’t feel the same way.
“It was a surprise but for me it wasn’t a tragedy,” she says. “I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.
“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
He wanted her to have an abortion and she reluctantly agreed. “It was one of the most agonising things I have ever experienced in my life. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it.”
She goes on to accuse Justin of cheating on her with another famous woman but doesn’t reveal her name – and when Britney “made out” with choreographer Wade Robson in a Spanish bar, the romance was over.
Justin went on to release the hit track Cry Me a River, which featured a Britney lookalike cheating on him in the music video.
In an interview with Rolling Stone at the time, Britney said Justin had warned her he was releasing a “controversial” video. “He got what he wanted,” she added. “I think it looks like such a desperate attempt, personally. But it was a great way to sell the record. He’s smart.”
Justin, who’s now married to actress Jessica Biel and has two young sons, hasn’t publicly commented on the book but sources say he’d hoped the abortion would remain a secret.
“He says they’d made that decision together and he intended never to talk about it,” an insider told the Daily Mail.
“Justin is going to try not say anything about it because he knows whatever he says will likely be thrown back right at him.”
In recent years the singer has shown support for his ex-girlfriend, albeit from a distance. In 2021 he encouraged his fans to support Britney during her fight to free herself from her conservatorship.
“No one should ever be held against their will or ever have to ask permission to access everything they’ve worked so hard for,” he said.
