NO JOKE! COMEDIAN SAYS I DO
UST 13 days after their engagement on the picturesque Steenberg wine farm in Cape Town, comedian DALIN OLIVER and singer MAXINE CEASAR quietly tied the knot on the very same wine farm.
Now, two months later, the couple has shared the news. The reason for the secrecy? “Well, we planned the wedding in two weeks and we didn’t sleep much,” Dalin says with a laugh. In those two weeks, he was also preparing for his two-month 90 Day Comedian tour of Australia.
Organising a wedding in 13 days is no joke, he says. “We don’t regret the way we did it and wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Dalin says he got emotional when he saw his bride on their big day. “I bawled my eyes out. It was the best thing ever, I have never cried for someone with such joy in my heart,” he tells YOU.
“The wedding was very intimate and it was the most vulnerable we’ve both been in front of people because we know how special we are to each other.”
The highlight of his day was seeing Maxine with her father in the aisle on the way to the pulpit. “It’s something I’ve dreamt of and finding someone so special really hits you hard.”
And Maxine’s highlight? “Definitely the ceremony, Dalin’s crying was the best.” To finally call her his wife is very special, the comedian says. “You can’t really say ‘finally’, because our engagement was only two weeks long,” he quips. “But calling her my wife is the best thing ever. It’s the best part of my day.” The couple’s honeymoon plans have been put on hold until Dalin wraps up his 90 Day Comedian show in Cape Town later this month. “After performing abroad, I’m excited to be back home. I love my country and its people, and after two months in Australia I realised how powerful we can be as people and as a nation,” he says. “I’m looking forward to performing for my home crowd in my home city again.”
