I CAN’T FIND SOMEONE LIKE MY SOULMATE AGAIN

-

I met my soulmate when I was 22 years old and we got engaged. But before we could get married she was killed in a car accident.

She was the perfect person for me and I’ve never found someone like her since, no matter how many dates I go on.

I’m now 35 and still single, still searching. My fiancée was perfect for me and fitted my personality like a glove. Women these days seem to be very selfish, and it is all about their own needs.

I want someone who’s also concerned about my needs. Where do I find a person like this? Patrick, email

It’s not true that there is only one person for you. If that were the case, a great number of people wouldn’t have been able to find a second or even a third love. You’ve convinced yourself you’ll never find someone like your fiancée again. And as long as you stick to this narrative, you will never find someone to your liking.

What is past is past. Try to look at possible partners with fresh eyes and fresh expectations. Also, give the person an opportunity to get to know you and for you to know her before you get out your critical lens.

Try not to compare her to your fiancée. Value the attributes that the new person in your life has rather than those she doesn’t seem to have. Nobody is perfect, and imperfections may also be charming and cute! Lastly, remember to be patient with yourself – building a genuine connection takes time and effort.
